It is only the historical success of a free economy that created the idea of a living wage in the first place, as opposed to needing to have every member of a large family toil dawn to dusk simply to avoid starvation. As growing government interference in a free and therefore productive economy increasingly rolls back the standard of living for everyone, we could end up returning to those days.
