How long until CB gets rocks? Until the Great Pumpkin motion picture in 1966 I presume.

I was never given money on Beggar’s Night. Must have lived a bit late.

Wow, that’s being really well-prepared to cart away all the loot!

A few people threw dimes in our bags. Once, I got a quarter! (This is early 1960s).

What’s CB dressed as – their manager?

I guess he needs a cart to carry all of those rocks!

I miss those carefree Trick or Treat days.

I don’t know how reliable a source it is, but according to the movie Meet Me in St. Louis, which is set in 1903-194, Halloween used to be about vandalism, hate, and “killing”.

Today, Halloween is about greed and blackmail (trick-or-treating), and all things evil (witches, ghosts, vampires etc.), and vandalism (the “trick” part of trick-or-treating, usually toilette papering people’s yards). I’m glad Halloween isn’t “celebrated” in Iceland, though, unfortunately, retailers have in recent years made some “progress” in convincing people that Halloween is a good idea.

No rocks for Charlie Brown that year!

I remember one strip from years ago that made me laugh out loud. Lucy rings a doorbell on Halloween and says “Trick or Treat, Kiss my Feet, Give me Something Good to Eat.” The next and last panel is the door going “SLAM!!!”

Be happy while you still can Charlie Brown, for rocks await your spooktacular future.

I have always thought the Canadian “Halloween Apples” was so much friendlier.

I remember a Peanuts when CB goes around as a ghost a few days after Halloween, and of course no-one gives him anything. He explains that they didn’t get their wash back in time for Halloween.

Two possibilities I see. One, the shopping cart is for the obvious, they figure on getting tons of goodies. Two, Charlie Brown’s the only one strong enough to push all that weight of the other three when they get too tired to walk anymore.

And at least their doing trick or treat and not trunk or treat.

Guess if this was contemporary parents would be with them, though of course we wouldn’t see them. Wa wa, wa wa wa wa.

Charming and takes me back! But – Good ol’ Charlie Brown? Not a phrase uttered in later years of the cartoon strip!

We’d get occasional pennies, and nickels, but every so often we’d hit the jackpot, and score a whole quarter. :)
