As a kid we had a large parachute tent in the side yard. SW Idaho summers get pretty warm. Inside the tent the dirt would get dry and soft. When it would get to powder consistency we would then go inside for the explicit task of seeing just how dirty we could get. Mom would make us wash of with the garden hose before we came inside.Pig Pen, I understand.
OH NO A PANDEMIC!!!!! WHERE’S FAUCI? WHO CAN WE BLAME? WHY ISN’T THE MEDIA KEEPING US IN LINE??? PLEASE, GOD, DON’T LET THEM……………. too late…….. even Charlie Brown has been infected. (what? too early? Paxlovid rebound?)
Those, were the days… being able to play outside, getting dirty, one end, to the other, and not having someone hovering, having a meltdown, when we did get dirt-covered. It’s dirt… it comes off. We were kids, and we took full advantage of it.

In later years, Patty will preface these calls with, “Now, I’m only telling you this so you can pray about it, but…”

Look out there’s one right there
It freaks me out, it’s covered in crud
All of our values have been challenged
By the monsters of mud
Here they slime
There they slouch
On the carpet
On my couch
Mud monsters everywhere
You can’t escape the slobbering flood
We couldn’t stop them so we all became
The monsters of mud
