For some odd reason my mom disapproved of using bookmarks. She would take them out of our books, saying that if you hadn’t been paying enough attention to know where you left off, you needed to start over.
I read a lot of books, I have a lot of book marks. However, when one is not handy as per CB’s problem, I would remove the “Do Not Remove” date card. But the libraries don’t use them anymore so the books get dog-eared.
I’ll use pretty much whatever comes to hand for a bookmark, be it a piece of paper, toothpick, paperclip, or my go to is simply turning the book upside down open to the page I’m on.
At least he’s not looking to damage the book by folding the page corner to mark the page (not gonna say the term cause Schulz visually and ironically used it for the joke here). But what about poor, old Snoopy. Can’t same the same about him. Even if the book isn’t heavy enough to hurt his ear, can’t say it won’t get damaged. He could suffer numerous paper cuts!
The last place I worked before retiring got new promo bookmarks every year. Any left from the previous year were distributed among the employees. I’ve got enough to last me a lifetime and then some. As soon as I start a new book I stick one in the front of it.

Snoopy is a good boy to sit there like that and not move!

Wouldn’t dog-earing the page be to colour it black, like Snoopy’s, in the ‘Peanutsverse’?

We use 4" by 1" paper-clips. Perfect bookmarks!

You’re not supposed to dog-ear the pages of a book.

I could say something about dog-earing a page, but I’m sure it’s been done already.

One way to dog-ear a page.
