I could bounce a ping pong ball on a paddle forever, but never could get the hang of this.

My mother would buy my brother and myself one of the flyback paddles. When the rubber band would break or the ball flew off, we would shorten the length until it was useless. My mother would then, um, repurpose the paddle into an instrument of discipline. She kept it in her purse, just for emergencies mind you…

And yet he’s smart enough to make balloons square.

Somebody give him a ballooon! He’ll be much happier with that gift.

Last panel should have it with the string twisted all around him, like Charlie Brown’s kite.

I remember one time my mom, brother, and I went to the store, and we got yoyos. But the string was so long I couldn’t even use it unless I stood on the bus bench. I think mom cut the string later so it was short enough that I could actually play with it.

Never could work those things. At least Linus can console himself with his special ability to blow up balloons into unusual shapes.
