Schroeder wears his catchers uniform and talks to Lucy and Charlie Brown. Schroeder says, "Perhaps you shouldn't be a playing manager, Charlie Brown, perhaps you should be a bench manager."<BR><BR> Lucy says, "That's a good idea . . . You'd be a great bench manager, Charlie Brown . . ."<BR><BR> Lucy says, "You could say, 'Bench do this! Bench do that!' You could even be in charge of where we put the bench . . ."<BR><BR> Lucy continues, "When the team gets to the ball park you could say, 'Let's put the bench here!' or 'Let's put the bench there!'" Charlie Brown says, "I can't stand it!"<BR><BR>

Actually, he isn’t a bad manager, as far as I can tell. He just can’t pitch, hit, or field at all.

This was adapted into the stage musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, although Linus replaced Schroeder and Patty (later Sally) replaced Lucy, since Lucy and Schroeder already head lines in that same scene.

I actually agree with Schroeder, Charlie Brown seems to be a very good manager, he’s good at telling his team what to do in different situations and at motivating them. He doesn’t play too great though, we’ve seen that Linus is a much better pitcher. So yeah he’d be an excellent non-playing bench manager
