Sally and Lucy hold a jumprope while Lucy jumps. She says, "Did your mother like the birthday card you gave her?" Violet answers, "I think so...she sort of cried.."

Violet, with her back to us, continues, "It's fun to give people cards."

They stand as they were in the first panel. Sally says, "On Valentine's Day I gave my mother a real nice lacy-type Valentine that I made at school..."

They look at each other. Sally continues, "I even gave my grampa a present on Groundhog Day." Violet adds, "How about St. Patrick's Day? I sent my uncle in Boston a nice card."

"On the first day of spring I always give my mother a flower.." says Lucy. Violet jumps rope now. She says, "Mother's Day is neat..I always get Mom something real nice on Mother's Day.."

They no longer jump rope. Lucy asks, "What about today? What did you give your father today?" Violet clasps her hands over her mouth and exclaims, "Today? Good grief, I forgot about today!"

Sally jumps rope now as the other turn. Violet says, "Oh, well, my Dad won't say anything..he might sigh, but he won't say anything.."

Violet, Lucy, and Sally walk in single file. Sally says, "That's what's good about Father's Day... You don't have to remember it."

I bet Peppermint Patty remembered to get her father something. And Charlie Brown probably remembered, too, actually.
