The day The Electric Company premiered on public television(remember that show, Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader, Rita Moreno with her famous feral scream “Hey you GUYS!”) I always refer to EC as “an elementary school version of Sesame Street,” for those of you like myself who watched Sesame Street(and The Electric Company) in the 1970s, you can see why, as it was aimed at six-to ten-year olds and taught the same way Sesame Street did, with skits, cartoons and songs. Anyway, it premiered on PBS on Monday, 10/25/1971, one more year until that show celebrates its 50th anniversary(even if it’s no longer in production, unlike Sesame Street.)
