Kenesaw Mountain Landis, a former US District Court Judge, is appointed the first Commissioner of Baseball in 1920. He served for 24 years until his death in 1944. When this strip is first published (1973), Bowie Kuhn served as Commissioner of Baseball (1969-1984).
