Peppermint Patty stands on her doorstep. Maynard sits on the ground and says, "What did you throw me out for?!"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty says, "Marcie says you were getting paid to be my tutor! You should have been doing it out of the goodness of your heart!"<BR><BR> Maynard shouts, "'The laborer is worthy of his hire' Luke 10:4"<BR><BR> Marcie says, "He's quoting scripture, sir." Peppermint Patty asks, "Is that fair?"<BR><BR>
Maynard incorrectly quoted from the Gospel of Luke. Luke 10:4 (NABRE) reads: “Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.” What Maynard was referring to is actually Luke 10:7: “Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another.”
