simpsonfan2: A lot of the newspaper that kept Peanuts after Schulz left us didn’t want to use the older strips because their size. was incompatible with the current size used by strips. To reproduce the older strips would have either meant printing that strip alone in the original size or shrinking it down to a size that would fit the current width allotted for a strip. The net result was that the strip on the page would be shorter than other strips on the page and less easy to read. To accommodate those newspapers the syndicators have offered both the older strips and a second stream of strips from after the size ratio changed. Personally I prefer the older strips, but that’s just me.
