The one and only time I ever got in trouble with a teacher was due to sarcasm. 4th grade. My teacher tripped in front of me and, in a brief flash of insanity, I quipped, “Don’t trip!” LAST time I ever did something like that.
Not at all sarcastic! This was back in the days when students were genuinely polite to teachers. Today’s parents would likely cringe at their little darlings having to apologize for their rude behaviour.
Kids these days, say a LOT worse to their students, and the teachers quake in their boots. “We can’t spank the kids – that’s abusive.” “We can’t put the kid in detention, that will stunt his social growth.” “We’ll just let him get away with it, and hope he grows out of it.”
@Leprechaun AllanOnce told my daughter “If I catch you doing drugs, I’ll smack you into next week!” She replied, “I’ll report you to Child Protective Services,” to which I responded, “Oh, that’ll make it stop hurting, eh?”

Charlie Brown does try his hardest. Give him credit where it’s due. Then he’ll slowly climb out of his maze.
