It’s too early for the Great Pumpkin, Linus… AND too late for the Easter beagle.

This is brilliant! I haven’t seen this strip before. Once he starts on the Great Pumpkin he will really be on a roll. Hopefully the next day they all go home otherwise he really will get tormented.

It doesn’t need to be church camp for a child to share the Word; my daughter taught her (public school) class the Fruit of the Spirit when she was in Kindergarten.

I just read Jeremiah for the first time a couple months ago, and was gobsmacked by how savage it was. Go read it if you don’t believe me. Disconcerting to read Linus quoting from that barbaric book—as, knowing Linus, he probably =has= read it. Would’ve scared the liver out of me when i was kid.

There are a lot of barbaric things in the Bible, in the old testament especially. God doesn’t take it lightly when His people depart from Him and worship idols.

If Schultz had this strip now, the liberals would stomp their feet and try to boycott everything “Peanuts” for having any religious references. Funny thing would be, like all their boycotts, it would backfire badly.

It’s all about timing. The right time for the bible, but not the Great Pumpkin.

You messed up. Stick to one, and only one subject Linus, either the word of God or the great pumpkin.

You know, I’ve never thought about this before, but Linus is marvelously subversive. He is the most religious of the Peanuts characters — who also happens to believe in a completely ridiculous made-up figure. It makes we wonder of ol’ Schulz had some doubts and put them subtly into his strips.

And lo and behold, according to Wikipedia, from the late 1980s, Schulz said, “I do not go to church anymore… I guess you might say I’ve come around to secular humanism, an obligation I believe all humans have to others and the world we live in.”

Awesome. I don’t know if the two are really tied together, but it sure adds up.

Too early for the “Holy Ghost” too. That “spirit” usually shows up about the same time as the Great Pumpkin!

Though I’ve never seen this particular strip either, it is no surprise because the Peanuts’ Christmas Special has Linus quoting from the New Testament. I wonder if there really is a real “Linus” because there really is a “red-headed girl.” Perhaps, Linus would have grown up to be the head librarian at the California State Library in Sacramento.

I have always thought that these daily strips should be displayed in their original black and white. But I must admit, the coloring on this particular strip is very well done.

The Bye-Bull says a load of garbage that can be interpreted in a thousand different ways. I find it hysterical to be on a comic strip website and see a bunch of morons proselytizing. How quickly we went from the Great Pumpkin to some “Gawd” punishing people for worshipping “false idols” (whatever the f*ck false idols are). Keep your blasted religion and your irrelevant ancient book to yourselves.
