I believe Schulz was good friends with Peggy Fleming.

Schulz adored Peggy Fleming, one of his many innocent crushes. She skated at his Redwood Empire Ice Arena not long after her 68 Olympic win, and she skated with Snoopy in some her TV specials (Schulz used her skating and that of others to perfect the way his characters skated).

It’s going to be a little hard for Arnold Palmer to make this banquet

Snoopy’s original skating crush was Sonja Henie. And you have to wonder why Joe Shlabotnik was invited to a banquet reserved for the greatest athletes—Joe was a worse outfielder than Lucy!

That’s some pretty distinguished company for a minor-leaguer with a .004 batting average!

I’ve never met any celebrities but I do have autographs from them personally, I wrote to them.

One of them is an ex-footballer.
