A new veterinary clinic is opening in my neighborhood. It used to be an ice cream parlor.

There are going to be a lot of ‘triggered’ dog owners after they read Snoopy’s column.

Why firm?

If I have to endure vet visits… everyone has to endure vet visits!

I take part in a breed forum and after we all guess what is going on we nearly always follow up with “take your dog to a vet” or “find a good trainer”.

Snoopy is such a snob.

When in doubt, check with the vet! I agree with Snoopy; some folks aren’t bright enough to have pets and don’t deserve to have them (a lot of my friends are vet techs, so I hear the stories).

Wow! Schulz must have encountered some doggy neglect owners just before he dreamed up this one!

Dear Sir,

My dog is convinced he’s a cat. He only eats cat food, he insists on using a litter box, he chases mice, and he loves knocking things off the shelves. I wouldn’t really mind if he wasn’t a Great Dane. What am I to do?

How many times have we wished Ann, Abby or Annie handed out advice like that?

Sadly, too many pet owners don’t take their beloved animals to the vet when they first show symptoms. There are so many pets that die of curable diseases because their owners put off the vet visits until it is too late. Frankly it makes me angry to see the irresponsibility and cruelty shown by these folks who claim to love their pets. I wonder if they would do the same with their children. And claiming that you don’t take them to the vet because they are too costly is the worst excuse there is. There are low-cost veterinary clinics everywhere and in some places (such as Norco, CA) there are organizations who will help with vet bills. If you cannot afford to take care of a pet, including veterinary visits, then you shouldn’t own one. Get a stuffed animal instead. They don’t bleed.
