Interesting…I’ve been reading Peanuts since the Dark Ages and don’t remember the character, Truffle. Every other character, yes. But, not Truffle. Something new has been injected into my Peanuts experience. Didn’t think it was possible.
I am finding the artwork and the story very worthwhile and entertaining! The barn is great, I think I can hear John Sebastian singing, “ you and me and rain on the roof “Thanks!
Here in Germany lots of old houses in half-timber construction can be seen, just logs and pegs being used, no nails at all. Many are still in use, they last forever. Often the interior is being completely renewed so that you get real nice rooms.
Rainy, probably a bit cool already without the rain (judging by Linus’ jacket), and you’re in an old barn laying on an iron or steel anvil. No wonder you’re uncomfortable, Snoopy.

If there’s a spreading chestnut tree anywhere near that anvil, maybe they’ll find edible truffles after all.

Time to cue in for some background music — the Anvil Chorus, from Il Trovatore.

I’d forgotten Truffles-but in linus she has someone who appreciates her special place.

Just kiss the girl Linus, then you can say you tasted a Truffle today and it was not a total loss.

Good thing this is a slice of life strip. Otherwise, that anvil would be used for other things.

It’s even less comfortable if it falls on your head. Just ask Daffy Duck!

This from a dog who lies on the roof of his dog house. At least the anvil is wider.

Try having an anvil dropped on your head, Snoopy, and see if that’s uncomfortable.

Linus and I would be great companions. I would notice that beam too and be mesmerized by it, considering it’s construction.
