This strip shows two views of God in their young lives. Sally, around 6, sees the Pastor in the role of God so all religion begins with him. Interesting she knows his birthday year. Charlie is old enough to know from the Bible that church history probably predates the Pastor by quite a number of years. But, Sally has improved. When she was 3 she probably felt God was her parents.
Why is the second panel the blank one? It really seems to break up the flow of the strip for me for some reason. I can’t help thinking it would be far less obtrusive if the blank came in the third panel.
But Sally, what if you’r pastor is the eightth pastor at your church? Doesn’t that mean you have to go back another seven pastors to reach the beginning of your church?

Unfortunately, I think that’s about as much “church” history as most church-goers know.

92 year old pastor? Seems cruel to keep him on, let the poor guy retire.
