9th grade, gym teacher posted a sheet with the wins / loses among the classes in volleyball. One of the classes called themselves “The Do Nothings” because they were in last place with zero wins.

It’s not entirely a bad name. It does have “goose” in it.

My fifth grade teacher gave ‘goose eggs’ instead of zeroes. It never offended anyone because she rarely gave them; she’d just threaten to. We liked her.

Oh that’s what a goose egg is!

I thought a goose egg looked like a chicken egg but it wasn’t laid by a hen.

In tennis, “love” comes from the French “l’oeuf”. The egg.

The Goose Eggs though might be a good team. That reminds me of a local peanut marketing company in town known as Cromers, The Worst Peanut in Town. When the company was founded there were already many peanut companies named Perfect, Best, Greatest, Unique, all good superlatives. But Cromer didn’t want his good peanuts to have to compete with all the others, so he called his peanut the worst in town. That caught the town’s attention, Cromers became a success and now it’s the only peanut company in town.

I love this whole arc, with Chuck getting to be a mentor without the baggage of his reputation. Inspired concept.

Is it really so bad, Charlie Brown? Maybe your team could be a defensive juggernaut and it could be your opponents who keep getting goose eggs.

I don’t understand why Charlie Brown is so determined to keep doing something he knows he is no good at, in the hope that he will eventually succeed. It makes at least a bit more sense to keep doing something you know you are never going to be good at just because you enjoy doing it and don’t care that you won’t ever succeed.
