In theory, I understand golf. It has the potential to be a healthy form of entertainment combined with friendly competition.
Then you take away the health aspects of it by having someone else carry your bag for you and driving around in a cart. Next you remove the entertainment part by taking the game seriously. Finally, competition can become cutthroat.
I thought there was more to Charlie Brown as manager of the Goose Eggs than that. Seems like it ended pretty abruptly, considering how much time was invested in the story.
