I heard Stephan Pastis was unsure how to draw this concrete statue of Guard Duck, so he asked Baby Blues co-creator Rick Kirkman for help. Kirkman sent Pastis a sample drawing of the statue, which he copied exactly for the strip. Pastis then added: “If you’re ever unsure how to draw something, call Rick Kirkman.”
