Anyway this reminds me of the Ukrainian virus that was spreading like wildfire some years back….

It came in an e-mail that said

“Dear Comrade.

This new virus from Ukraine.

We have here no experience with computer. Please to help us with honor system.

Please to delete all files on hard drive, then forward virus to everyone on mailing list.

Big thank you for cooperation."

Definitely a Mac rather than a Linux-based system. Linux, in all of its unstandardized flavors, is a creation of code-writing snobs who seem to resent that the Great Unwashed might actually use their creation, so they deliberately make it user-hostile. (IMHO, of course.)

@LHPuttgrass: Nope, Macs are riddled with viruses, you’re just not aware of them. The only virus-free o/s is Linux :P

I am running windows XP on a core2duo without any problems for exacty a year. free antivirus, too.

Russian viruses? The Russians send me interesting e-mails about young ladies who are longing to meet me. They think I’ve got money, but I’ve just sent it to some Nigerians. The viruses come from Israel, and will destroy every control system and kill us all.

And even if you do have anti-virus, you can still get bogged down by malware your anti-virus doesn’t recognize.

What if the virus slowed Pig’s computer to a crawl and interfered with his messages?

I use AVAST Antivirus on my PC and it does not slow it down!
