Goat: I hear the crocs are trying a new way to kill you.
Zebra: Yep. Guerrilla warfare. But I don't think they really grasp the concept.
Crocodile 1: You got beeg butt, Bob.
Crocodile 2: Shut mouf, Burt.
That’s exactly what I thought they were saying as a kid. Gorilla fighters…they came up behind you and grabbed you! (Not that real gorillas do that, but still.)
Bob: check. Burt: check. Hindquarters of the gorilla: Larry? Bob mk. 2? At least the doltish crocs will provide Zeeba Neighba with a laugh. Maybe his coffee then will go down the wrong way and he’ll die laughing….
He’s free as the breeze, He’s always at easeHe lives in the jungle and hangs by his kneesAs he swings through the trees without a trapezeIn his B.V.D.‘s It’s Croc-o-zan.
How many crocs named Bob are in this strip!? I think since I started reading it no fewer than five Bobs have met some form of horrific end. It’s like wearing a red shirt on classic Trek!
I came up with this idea first. I was writing a comic strip about the american colonists and I wrote that on of the reasons the colonists won the revolutionary war was because they knew what guerilla warfare meant. (I’m not saying that the british didn’t know, I just thought it would be funny.) I’m also not saying Stephan copied it off me.
Reminds me of being a 19yo Marine and getting orders to Vietnam. But first we had to go to Camp Pendleton in California for guerilla warfare training. I had never heard of such and wondered what gorillas had to do with anything. Luckily, I learned what they meant before making a fool of myself. That was in 1966 in the very early days of the war so the terminology wasn’t as well known as it was in later years of the conflict.

Problem here is crocs are green. Guerrilla fighters—or at least the classic books—are red. Mao and Che Guevara.

The first time I heard the phrase “geurrilla warfare” I made the conclusion “gorilla warfare” instantly. So this wasn’t very funny.
