    And why do the bicyclists think it’s OK to run stop signs and red lights?

    Gotta love the self-righteousnous that misses the fact that… actually…

    Actually I’m going to shut up. The electric vehicle, in some parts of California, is more carbon neutral on a short→medium term basis than walking or cycling. (Some parts are pretty much 100% solar these days.)

    The amount of energy that goes into even vegan food is so much more, that feeding your body to power it to do the walking is less efficient.

    The short term v. long term depends on health. If you eat little enough and don’t get fat, then you really have saved the food energy. But if you don’t get enough exercise, you do risk tying up lots of very non-carbon neutral medicine. (And we could bring out food back down if we were smart enough about it.)

    So I’m still in favour of “electric car guy being shortsighted” but its not as cut and dried as we wish it were.

    Hum, Mr Pastis must read the comments section on “Go Comics” because this conference is just like reading the comments at times. This one says this and that one says that. This one is right and that one is wrong………….a mirror perhaps…..of ourselves.

    Jeff tops Ernest as not only is his vehicle of choice green, it’s also exercise. Victor is a looser hypocritic pure and simple.

    @WoodEye

    Cyclist here. It depends on what you mean by "running lights and stop signs. If you mean full-on ignoring they even exist, those guys are jerks who give all cyclists a bad name.

    If you mean cyclists who slow way down but don’t quite stop or put a foot down, it’s is because most of us have our shoes clipped to our pedals. “Clipping-out” is easy but “clipping-in” is a bit of a PITA, especially when you have cars impatiently waiting for you to get out of their way. Maintaining even a half MPH of speed helps everyone get moving smoothly and quickly.

    Now pardon me while I carb load and then get into my Spandex; I’ve got a 55 mile ride at 9am. ;-)

    As for myself, I wouldn’t predict anything…which is precisely the problem. A wolf is a wild animal and will always be wild, regardless of how long it’s been held captive by humans.

    I would actually pay money to watch the groups in this strip try to kick the ever-loving snot out of each other. Not to mention those belonging to more than one group (vegan cyclists, for instance) kicking themselves in their own heads.

    Ach, the Nac Mac Feegle Syndrome….
