Transcript:
Marigold: Checkmate. Phoebe: Let's play a game I'M good at. Something like... oh, I dunno... "who has the most fingers?" Marigold: I would prefer a "best tail" contest.
Yesterday’s strip showed Marigold taking liberties with how she moved the pieces. Also, the board made a magical change too. When you have a unicorn as a best friend, expect the unexpected! LOL
There’s a tradition going back centuries of artists getting chessboards wrong. See, for example, http://www.tri.org.au/chess/vanMander.html. (But note that the title given on the is not the painter’s, and is quite certainly nonsense.)

How about a “who is better at speaking in calligraphy” contest. (Marigold would win that too!)

Would Phoebe being better at “Horse” be an example of irony?

One way this isn’t C&H: Phoebe’s not kicking the board.I wonder how Marigold feels about the chess knights.

I don’t think it’s likely they’ll agree to many games.

That wouldn’t be fair for the unicorn to play that game Phoebe.
