Hey Phoebe is a bit of a redneck as well as a nerd. Either that or she watches that Red Green Show.

I rather like Marigold’s finery. The feather headdress and star topper really add something.

You can correct me if I’m wrong but I think it is properly called “Duck tape”.
Complete the following quote "if the women don’t find you handsome … "

“I rather desperately want to be able to call it that.” The writing in this comic is just gold sometimes.

Fabric duct tape is available in other colors than gray and aluminum duct tape is shinier.

“if the women don’t find you handsome … "
“They should at least find you handy.”

It’s true; “duck tape” is the original term. But some people thought that sounded goofy, so they started calling it “duct tape”, instead, and now it’s all mixed up.

I think Duck tape or duct tape (whatever it is called) comes in different colors and patterns now. All I really know is that it is handy stuff and it just works.

Does anyone remember what it was called in the military?Somewhere around the Vietnam era, it got the name,“Someting mile-per-hour tape” because it could be used to tape panels on helicopters in an emergency, and stay on in flight.

Back in WW2, when it was used for sealing ammunition cases, and even earlier, dating back to 1902, it was "duck tape”, some say because it was waterproof, and some say because the backing fabric was cotton duck (yes, it’s the name of a fabric; look it up); some even say it had something to do with the DUKW amphibious transport vehicle. This is all on record. The name “duct tape” arrived only in the 50s, the creation of people who supposed, without bothering to check, that “duck” had to be a mistake.
