Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for September 29, 2013
Transcript:
Phoebe: This is the first time I've worn this hoodie in months. I still haven't checked the pockets. Marigold: Why not? Phoebe: I'm saving it! You never know what could be in there. Could be a gift from the past! Let's see what I got myself. A... wad of what used to be paper. Marigold: Do you think your parents washed your garment Phoebe: Ye-no. This is my LUCKY paper wad.

Always turn a disappointment in to a treasure huh Phoebe? But I am actually cliff hung now. What happens with the kid and her ball? did Phoebe get punished? did she get off? I must know!

This strikes me as an especially beautiful and well-done strip. Thanks, Dana.

Could have been worse. Could have been an unwrapped Lifesaver onto which the wad of what used to be paper and five acres of pocket lint had fused. What would Phoebe have done, though, if the horn horse had materialized a pre-1964 genuine silver quarter into her pocket, I wonder?
