Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for November 09, 2016
Transcript:
Dad: Do you have homework? Phoebe: Uh... no. Dad: Phoebe... Phoebe: Okay, yes I do. But I can't put this book down! Reading is almost like homework I assign MYSELF. It's not as if I'm... um... out STEALING CHANGE FROM THE WISHING FOUNTAIN. Dad: I'm actually proud that's the worst behavior you can think of. Phoebe: Curse you! You've stunted my evil imagination.
Personally, I’m more disappointed in the fact that she wants to liken casual reading to giving homework to herself, as that suggests a not very high opinion of reading, and as an avid reader myself, that sort of depresses me.
