Alejandra: sees new person Okay, heads, they’re cool, tails they’re a loser.

So yep this reaffirms that Dakota is “One of us, one of us!”.

GYUH.

Me: “I bet it’s gonna be a lame party anyway.” Alejandra: “No way! It’s totally a cool party!” Me: “Prove it.” Alejandra: “OK, I will! Your invited!” Me: Cool! See you there, sucker!" Alejandra: “Wait…”

I already hate her. At least, Dakota has some redeeming qualities (although I can’t think of any right now).

what an odd kid this Alejandra is… being the new kid on campus and inviting who she thinks are both cool and un-cool

Paradigm shift. Dakota is now in the loser category. Will she enlist Phoebe (and Marigold) to enact revenge, rolling the dice with a likely disastrous magical fix? Or will she be content with still being able to lord it over Phoebe? Stay tuned for tomorrow’s exciting episode!

This new girl is hiding something…

I remember a new student who acted this way in grade school. Acting like he was hot stuff, putting people down, and one day actually shoved another student. That turned out to be quite a mistake for him and after his bruises healed up he was much more well-behaved.

Are you just gonna let her take your place, Daktota?

Why didn’t Dakota’s magic hair reach out and trip that little Thot?

(senses a vague expression of thoughts)

When I imagine Alejandra’s voice, I imagine she has a snot blocking her nose.

“So you won’t attend your own party?”

Ooh-hoo! Now Dakota knows how it feels for Phoebe.

At least you aren’t deplorables.

I hate these kind of sentences. You want to invite them, but the theme is “no-LOSERS” so you can’t, but you came up with the theme, so you don’t want to invite them?

Usually the newcomer has to prove themselves to the established cool clique. Not likely that Dakota’s cool friends will suddenly turn on her (there would normally be social repercussions for doing that). The new kid would be risking a lot by not first using the pretext of befriending Dakota to find out her weaknesses and then slowly turning her circle of friends against her.

The new girl is going to rapidly discover that no one wants to be her friend. Either that or she’s going to steal all of Dakota’s friends.

I had another punchline in mind.

Isn’t this strip supposed to feature a Unicorn in it? Just where has Marigold been while her best human friend is being attacked like this? I remember the “dodgeball” strip where Mari thought Phoebe was under attack and she went into combat mode!

Dakota knows that she just admitted to being a loser, right?

So the only character of color is a bully?
