When robot unicorns attack!

Not long ago, Disney World closed the Universe of Energy ride starring Ellen DeGeneres to replace it with a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster.

Shortly after the closure, Ellen publicly announced that she wanted to have the animatronic of herself, so she could make it host the show for her.

“I gained my interest back.”

I think we ALL did.

Phoebe’s comment in the last two panels?

My mind went to Power Rangers Dino Thunder where the teens find Tommy’s video diary when Conner makes a sarcastic yawn when the video has him declaring that they’re about to view the history of his life.

But then Conner retracts that yawn after Tommy said it’s his history as a Power Ranger.

Marigold is violet in the first panel, interesting she changes color too!

“It DOES compute!” The robot Marigold says!

Mari’s horn is probably her remote control antenna?

Being a unicorn, I thought it would at least be a robot triple.

Okay even for a strip this creative… I didn’t see robots coming. It’s not a bad thing mind you, I love this insane twist, but it still threw me in the best way possible.

Do unicorns have an equivalent of the uncanny valley? Human like animatronics and animation runs into a problem that when it becomes too close to human appearance it begins to look creepy because it still looks a little off. Do unicorns have a similar reaction to things that are almost but not quite like unicorns?

If someone makes a robot of you, surely it will more like those mechanical horses from “Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs”

And just like that, Phoebe and Her Unicorn has added science fiction to its list of genres.

“Marigo-go gadget horn!”

I’m not so sure that’d be a good thing, Phoebe. One day you have a robotic unicorn, the next day it’s forcing you to run through a disused laboratory and test a portable hole device.

HAAHAAHAA!!! "I am talking about my robot double. " HAAHAAHAA! There is now snorted coffee in my keyboard!!

Who made it? Some mad scientist unicorn?

Is this like where Superman can’t always be around so there are Superman Robots so Clark can get some sleep once in a while? MEANWHILE, AT THE UNICORN FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE (and Sparkles)!

I’ve gained my interest back too, and I had never lost it in the first place!

Oh darn, I thought Marigold was going to say she would be leaving her non-version in her space for a while. Just as an “un-birthday” is as real as a birthday only different. The minus of something is a something too. A certain Dodgson says so.
