My horse regards waves as very suspicious. The first time we went to the beach it was a rough surf day, waves crashing on the shore, lines of white water rushing up the beach, a life guard zodiac out past the waves. My boy is a good horse, willing to cross any water we come to, but there was no land out there to get to. He stayed on the sand and shivered under me. Another, calmer day we got him in, but he really doesnt like it. Rivers and creeks, fine, ocean, no.
I remember seeing adds to buy panels on gocomics all the time. This is one id the few times I actually want to. This is just beautiful, like all id Dana’s work.
The question in my mind is if Marigold is taking the game of running away from the waves so seriously that she is actually allowing it to spook her like a common horse on the beach.
This reminds me of a YouTube video I saw where some surfer guy did a sliding trick with his board and the horse stood still and thought about it all for a moment and then decided to run off and spook and take a galloping lap around the beach and leave the rider behind.
I think some horses try to find something to spook themselves with sometimes.
But I don’t think Marigold is afraid of the waves, she’s simply playing the same game as any of us who have ever visited the beach.

Since Dana insists on having the comic always be the same time of year as real life, this was not a good time to make that joke.

Phoebe, I don’t think it was a good idea to show Marigold The Last Unicorn.

Thank you for telling us that, Phoebe. Now, could you please help me pick up all these shards of the fourth wall that you just shattered?

Also in The Last Unicorn the waves were unicorns.

I’m sure that in October the waves must also be very cold.
