Opal always has one thing to do — pester Earl…

He beat you to the recliner again Opal.

Earl has assumed my favorite retiree position.

My wife is going to have a hey day with this one.

It’s almost like that. The only difference is that Earl won’t try to think of something for you to do.

Fpr now at least Opal-you know that at some point the dishes will need to be washed again, laundry will need to be done. Relax while you can!

To paraphrase Ben Franklin, “As soon as the electorate realizes they can vote themselves the public treasury it will signal the end of the republic.”

This is nonsense

Sure, there’s always something that needs to be done around the house. It’s just that Earl, like most men realizes that it doesn’t have to be done “right now”.

I guess Opal thinks that house they live in and all their stuff just generated itself out of thin air. Never understood my mom griping about my dad actually enjoying doing nothing in retirement after 50 years of busting his @$$.

Heck yeah!!!!!!!!!! You’re right Opal. That is how I feel .

I can do anything a woman can except have kids… I can make them but not have them.

Oh ho ho! This means war! And I know just how to combat it.I can do nothing much better than you. Let’s get to work.

Some people live as human “beings,” some as human “doings.” Yes, anyone can FIND something to do (to justify their existence). However, when we realize we should do only what we NEED to do, we will use fewer resources, less energy, and achieve greater joy in this life. Also, we will leave sufficient resources for our children, grand-children, etc.

Men have better priorities.

Wow, the comments are surprisingly civil. No “who does more work” arguments, no “men vs. women” insults… Very nice! And just enjoy your relaxation, Opal, without dragging Earl or men into it.

My husband and I retired – unfortunately you can’t retire from housework – well, my husband did. I’m with you Opal.

It’s reverse with my wife, I always have things to do and she just sits around or lays around and doesn’t do anything.

Enjoying yourself there, Earl?

I would love to see Opal push him off that chair.
