Or black printer’s ink. Or absolute temperature. Or 1000 of something. Or phylloquinone. Or a strikeout. Or the Dallas branch of the Federal Reserve Bank.

Or maybe Sylvia means Opal’s lunch pitch was a strikeout!

I learned early, KK or K means OK. It is just that K is easier to type. I am STILL training my mom not to use texting to type complete sentences or a response to every little thing.

I am very much surprised that Earl knows K stands for potassium.

spelling it out would mean four letters “okay”….she got it down to one. But people actually speak like that too. K?

My son hates getting a reply with just “K”. His response is:

    LMNOPQRST…

People are so lazy. Is it really too much of a struggle to do a fully worded text?

Sometimes you might be in a hurry…be glad she responded! I think it’s worse when you’re notified of your message was read and then they never reply. I’ll take the short answer over no answer.

I hate text messaging. I can talk faster than I can type. If someone sends me a text requiring only a short answer, I’ll text. If they keep sending texts, or require a long answer, I call them. If we’re going to have a conversation, I would rather do it verbally.

Kudos for Opal that she even knows how to text on a smartphone, many if not most seniors don’t (I’m one of the exceptions, I think.) Now she just needs to come up to speed on the lingo … :-)

This joke works the other way, too, especially when you text young folks. Type “potassium” and let them figure out it means K. (I even mentioned this joke on my blog back in 2012. Um, http://writing-rag.com/1274/verbing-nouns/ if you’re curious)
