My paternal grandfather was a jack of various trades whereas my maternal grandfather was an agent in the — should I even say it? — Federal Bureau of Investigation when he was originally planning to be a pharmacist. The former was already dead before my older brother and I were born whereas the latter was already retired before our parents’ marriage.
I just heard tonight that I have grandchild #6 on the way. Not bad when you consider I had only one living grandparent when I was born. I hope that’s it as we don’t want to crowd everyone else off the planet. ;-)
How very dear this comic was! I have no children, either, but know several grandparents who care deeply about their grandchildren and act accordingly. I sent this to two of them. It truly touched me.

I have no children. Does that mean that I’m a huge failure?

How sweet and so true. Nelson will remember that all of his life and hopefully pass it on to his children.

My Dad always said my sister and I were his brightest accomplishments. It never failed to make me smile just like Nelson.

Amen, but not wait for them to ask you about your life’s history, or family history.

Reading “Pickles” starts my day on a happy note. Today’s comic really hits home. Thank you!

I think he has it backwards. The ratio of what you are to what you could have been makes more sense to me.
