Our city just recently hired a different company. They are terrible. We went three weeks without them picking up on our street. No reason – they just skipped us. This has happened to a lot of people.
Opal kept a watch for the garbageman. As they passed their house she ran down the street carrying her trash bag she caught up and asked “am I too late for the trash?” The garbageman replied, “no ma’am, hop right in!”
We just went through that. Collection day went from Thursdays to Tuesdays. After missing a couple of pickups, I started putting the cans out on Monday afternoons. Odd however, is that recycling pickups are still on Thursdays.
When I called about collection in our new house, the person warned me that the trucks start early, 6:30 am. I said, “Slackers, our old place it was 5 am.” Still Friday though.
The mayor is hiring a new company because they go down the street four times and never stop to pick up until about 3:00 in the afternoon…ridiculous! After being out the night before….
I’m so glad that we have dumpsters in the alley. We take out the trash when ever we want and it doesn’t matter when they pick it up. Where we used to live, across town, they used to pick up once or twice a week. Where we live now, they pick up every week day. I figure there must be someone important on our street.
Being a 2 1/2 world country, we don’t have rolly bins or dumpsters. People put their trash out on the sidewalk in paper or plastic bags. Some folks, like myself, hang the bags from a wire looped around a light pole to keep the dogs from getting into to it.
We never worry about trash recycling because the pickers often go through the trash before the garbage truck arrives to pick out the good bits of metal, plastic, and cardboard to sell to the recyclers.
We also don’t worry about what day the trashmen will pickup. They come every day – including Sunday – and in my barrio, twice-a-day! They pick up about 8:30 am and again at about 10:30 pm.

No problem, leave the can(s) on the curb all week and check every afternoon.

Here’s hoping you don’t have raccoons or stray dogs in the neighborhood.
