Personally Opal i believe something like Pledge® would work better on Earls head than vegetable oil. A lot less messier also.

There is such a thing as “too shiny” unless you are wearing sunglasses.

At least Earl will have soft skin.

Earl’s scalp might become so shiny, he’ll be able to signal a rescue aircraft when he’s outdoors.

Opal is starting to tick me off. Lighten up old girl!

I might have gone with something slightly different in the 3rd panel: When the light hits the leaves, they seem a little ‘brighter’.

Vegetable oil is for vegetables!

Earl’s head on the other hand…coconut oil!

Earl’s head should be left alone, if he did that to her she’d be madder than heck.

When the time came that I lost most of my hair ( never to return ) I gave in and started to shave my head of course It would shine , my cousin ask how I got it so shiny , my reply ; Sex Wax !

What if Earl wanted to keep his head dull? Did you consider that, Opal?

And we wonder why Earl acts the way he does ! Opal abuse ;-)

We’re changing their names from ‘Opal’ and ‘Earl’ to ‘Mean’ and ‘Dismissive’.

Can Opal see herself on Earl’s head? She could probably observe the whole ceiling because of the curved shape. I’m concerned that the vegetable oil will block the stomata on the plant leaves and end up killing the plant.

As long as “dull” describes the surface and not the content, I guess Earl is ok with it.

My bald head is naturally shiny. I worry the blinding glare will ruin any photo I’m in.

Someone better call 911……… there’s about to be a domestic disturbance.

I like Opal. She and Earl clearly love each other. We only see the funny parts of their lives, not the foot rubs and long sitting together enjoying each other that happens off-screen.

DO NOT, please, use any of the commercial shines, vegetable oil or other homemake shiner on plant foliage. They clog the pores(plants breathe through their pors just as we do) and attracts dirt in the air. Just clean with a mild dish soap or even just a a damp rag.

Never do that my my hubby, his skin too oily for that and he is bald on top.

I’m not showing this one to my wife. She don’t need any more fresh ideas.

Earl loves it!

Olive oil is really good for the skin, but use a good, organic, extra virgin olive oil. =^_____^=

Another one where I don’t like Opal very much.

Earl should put Opal in the dryer to get some of the wrinkles out of her!

Since when do houseplants require make-up? Is this a thing?

At the suggestion of a friend, I found vegetable oil gives me a much closer shave than any soap and I don’t remember having nicked myself shaving since I began using it three or four years ago.
