Just when I’m waiting for a trainwreck after Earl’s mishaps with “planes” and “automobiles,” I’m now focusing on how Earl is going to “bring the house down.”
Sometimes this strip switches topics far too quickly. I’m not sure if that’s because Brian Crane drops the topic without a resolution, or if the strips may get run out of order sometimes. We never got a resolution to Earl in the bean bag chair, and we never got a resolution to Earl trying to fix Nelson’s car.

I break more mirrors that way. Wonder if they’re trying to tell me something…or just protect my eyes.

I think my house is haunted. When I look in the mirrors, some old man looks back at me.

Excerpt from “Solitude” by Ella Wheeler (1883)
Solitude
Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone;
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.

“The mirror crack’d from side to side—” Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “The Lady of Shallott.” She must have been grinning too, like Earl.

Ghosts and phantoms? Why can seem weird when you do know it. This case, the thrill of Ben seeing his own face.

Unfortunately too often my spouse and I see ourselves mirrored in Pickles… not this time though
