Nelson was the wise one this time! BTW both my grandmothers were excellent cooks!

I had a great-uncle who made purposely wry comments like that, to test my mental acuity. It was a challenge to figure sometimes whether or not he was kidding.

How does Crane keep DOING this?! Very few comics make me physically laugh out loud, but if any of today’s were going to do it, I’d bet on “Pickles.”

Never heard it before, but I like it. I assume it’s intended to be a variation of, “Do what you need to while you still can.”

I wonder how many other pearls of wisdom Earl’s grandfather gave him that he wasted through ignorance. He should run them all by Nelson before it’s too late.

Perhaps one caused his granddad to think of the other.
