I agree with Pacejv,
I’ve never used cruise control on my truck (or cars in the past). My friends think I’m weird when I tell them I don’t trust some gizmo control & prefer to control my speed with my foot on the gas pedal.
After hearing the story of the woman going 100 mph & her car wouldn’t slow down - I’ll keep using my foot!
That truck looks so old it probably fell off the recall radar many years ago. And I agree with Ima, this is probably not a good topic for a comic strip. People have died from this.
Misha 1995 & pschearer …I agree with you that Pluggers comment are a place for fun. Generally, I keep clear of stuff like this, but a cruise control and black-ice almost took me somewhere I wouldn’t bother anyone, anymore. (Sorry.)
Wow, too much tragedy to make fun of… I’ll bet you laugh when somebody falls on the ice. But I guess that’s only minor tragedy. Anyway, show me something that’s funny that’s not at somebody else’s expense.

That’s how I fixed my stuck accelerator pedal, only I got under the hood and freed up the pivot arm of the linkage, behind and under the carburetor.

Carburator cleaner and WD sure do come in handy.

Electronic linkage? Sorry, but can’t trust software to replace a ‘seasoned’ foot on solid connections.

So how would the plugger handle the faulty electronics?
KingRat almost 15 years ago
@cabrobst a plugger handles faulty electronics by getting a jump start and/or a new battery.

Ash: How much more American can you get than being assembled in Hebron, Kentucky?

Ouch! Not funny, Gary! And using cruise control has not been mentioned as a factor in the accidents. Many happened on surface streets.

This is out of character for Pluggers. Too much tragedy to make fun of.

WD-40 isn’t near as good as PB Blaster.
notinksanymore almost 15 years ago
If the car won’t slow down, I think that’s more a problem with the brakes than with the cruise control.

Actually, Pacejv, I was not referring to the comments but to the cartoon itself.

Pluggers don’t mind dying in horrible accidents.
(Yeah, this is tacky.)
