Don’t answer if you don’t know the caller. If it’s important, they’ll leave a message.

Isn’t that what the block button on the phone is for?

I still get a kick out of ‘entertaining’ those unknown callers with a bit of my own humor, making them believe they’ve got “a live one” on the line..

I also do not like that I can not hold the phone up to my ear w/my shoulder like the old phones. Yea, yea, buy a headset-not.

If you don’t recognize the number, don’t answer. Even if it looks like a local cell number. They are all spoofs. If they want to talk to you, they will leave a voice mail.

Pluggers are the only ones who fall for scams because they are the only ones who pick up their phones when it rings.

We have NoMoRoBo – No More Robo. Comcast doesn’t charge for it, and even if they did, it’s worth it. And, as others have said, if you don’t recognize the name or number, don’t answer. If I do answer, I just start speaking in Cherokee.

If you dont know the number, and you do answer , do NOT say Hello. They are not allowed to say anything till you say, Hello. Usually have to say it twice before they/it do/does start talking If you don’t say hello and is a legitimate call the other person will say hello.

Perhaps that’s why telemarketers are more abundant than ever: No one can slam the phone down on them anymore.

But you can block the caller if that’s on your plan or in your phone. YMMV

When I am feeling my oats, I’ll answer with a made up language (like Latke Gravis in the series Taxi): “Trou shaad ya bene voush? Ah! Prekoye, deemaash?”
