She just hands them to me after she buys them, no shopping required from me. That is true love. I don’t much care what I wear and she does, match made in heaven.
She’s trying to reconcile his present appearance with how Barbie’s “Ken” would look in that shirt. Dressing husbands hearkens back to dressing her dolls.
Our men’s group is having a Lumberjack Breakfast this Sunday. We are all going to wear red plaid flannel shirts. Maybe we’ll even sing the Monty Python lumberjack song.
A corollary to this…when I get a haircut, I always ask my wife if it suits me before I get up from the chair. Afterall, she has to look at it, and frankly, I can live with most any coif!
Beats heck out of him asking, “Do I like this?” when you serve him something for dinner & it’s been quite a while since you last pulled out that recipe…
Have never bought him clothes as gifts. I may have picked up if he asked me to socks for him as he wears the same socks, or underwear – ditto, back when he was working, as when I worked full time I was out of the office at clients and my time was my own, but never remember buying him clothes other than when out shopping with him and he bought the clothes.
He wears standard button fronts shirts – most of them left over from when he was working and had to wear same for work (with jacket and tie – I wasn’t going to mention pants as same should be obvious – but did not want any jokes about him not wearing pants). His complaint these days is that all of the new button shirts are too heavy weight, especially the short sleeve ones for hot weather. On the other hand, some of the shirts in his closet are so old and washed so many times one can almost see through them.

My wife brings me shirts from the Thrift Store. No fashion there.

I inherited dozens of shirts when a friend died, he was a bit of a clotheshorse. 24 years and I still have a wardrobe full waiting for their turn.

I avoid brown, yellow and red. Those colours just don’t work for me. I only wear black until something darker comes along.

Color blind pluggers need help shopping for clothes. “That shirt is purple. Here.”

Nah, a real plugger doesn’t even shop. He just wears what’s next in the closet and expects that if his wife bought it.. it looks good.

You’re a Plugger if you use her credit card.

Buy a shirt she doesn’t like, and you’ll get “is that what you’re wearing?” every time.

Yes, you are.

Buy a warm shirt big enough to fit either of you and watch it get accepted.

With me it’s the wife that asks the question, “Do you like this ?”
BTW, the answer is “Yes.”

While a husband might remember the colors and plaids he likes, the wife is more likely to remember the cloth weight and feel he prefers.
