Poncho: Look at this picture of you and your former dog. You look so perfect together. Chazz: Trust me, it wasn't perfect. This one time, when he was rescuing this drowning orphan on the beach, he totally sprayed water all over this woman's digital camera! And man, when he made eggs chorizo, waaay too much olive oil, y'know what I'm sayin'? Poncho: What the heck are eggs chorizo??

No, he doesn’t know what you’re saying!

He knows exactly what you are saying, Chazz!

Only thing Poncho ever rescued was a plank of wood.

Yeah, but he wasn’t as cute as Poncho.

I’d better hide all my photos of me and my past dog before I get a new one. He was pretty close to perfect.

Sounds to me like the last dog was more RAD than Chazz.

Ummm,if this was the past, then I don’t think they had digital cameras back then? Brain fart typeo?

Does Poncho not know a type of food??

I’m kinda new to this comic, so I don’t know how old Poncho actually is. But, Comander Bobo, digital cameras have been available on the consumer market since about 1994. Just a thought.

Push that foot further down there, Chazz. Plenty of room and foot left.
The Husky probably did that rescue in his youth, about 30 years ago, when Chazz was 5. They’d have called 911, but phones hadn’t been invented yet either.

I love the third panel with Poncho silently glaring up at Chaz! It says it all without saying anything.
And Poncho, Eggs Chorizo is spanish spicy pork and scrambled eggs but don’t feel bad I had to google it to see what it was too!

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had to google.

In the present-day strips, Poncho has always been referred to as two years old. So while “Year One” is the past, it’s the recent past. Even though the strip began running in 2000, the events we’re seeing here took place no earlier than 2008 (not 1998), and Chazz’s previous dog would probably have been around not much before that.
Besides, consumer-market digital cameras have been around since the mid-1990’s..

There is no way that Chazz can dig himself out of the canyon he is making for himself.

My dog doesn’t even like chorizo but he’s a great dog anyway. (I mean, what kind of a dog won’t eat chorizo, for goodness sake?)

Drool. I’ll be making eggs chorizo for breakfast on Sunday. Love panel 3….looks say it all.

ottod, I knew a young Turkish woman who, while not an observant Muslim, wouldn’t eat any pork products except chorizo. But she was no dog, believe you me…

Do we know what happened to the other dog yet? I’m guessing that the dog left Chazz and not the other way around.

The Spanish chorizo is much firmer and is dry and can be eaten without cooking. The Mexican chorizo needs to be fried. The Spanish also has a more intense flavor, but both are tasty.
