The water dunking bird in the last panel gives me a clue as to Paul Gilligan’s age…..HA! I remember those birds well……from my childhood in the 40’s when my buddies Mom’s had them in the kitchen window bobbing in a glass of water….getting a “drink”. Wonder if they are still made…I’d like to have one. Thanks for the memories Paul. Will try Google……
Actually I remember the drinking bird from a Simpson’s episode where Homer’s brother was trying to become rich again. Later in another episode, when Homer works from home, he uses one of the birds to push the Y key on his computer, so he could go to the movies instead. Needles to say, Springfield almost had a nuclear meltdown.
The point is those drinking birds are not just for the elderly.
Ryan Stiles used to imitate the drinking bird on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” – at least on the U.S. edition. I don’t recall whether he also did it previously on the original British version.

Nice artwork. Nice assortment of images. I lolled when I saw the Blue Jays logo.

Do you suppose “Lullaby Of Birdland” is also going through Poncho’s head?
ak4mc, Ryan Stiles is my neighbor. He’s a pretty funny fellow (and tall, LOL).

I see Foghorn Leghorn but no Road Runner, Donald Duck, Daffy, Heckel & Jeckel, Tweety, etc.

Nor the Cardinal’s (baseball) mascot.
But Charlie Parker was a very nice touch.

hoppiep, in the words of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’s Clarisse, “There’s Always Tomorrow.” I’m sure we’ll get more of this joke dragged out.

Paul, just really have to say great artwork on this one with some really unusual angles! Bravo!
One bird I’m glad we didn’t get to see floating in Poncho’s mind is the one finger salute.

♫ Summertime ♫ Kind of gives the dreams a film noir thing.

“Whose Line Is It Anyway” will be back soon with Drew Carey at the helm again, with Greg Proops and Kathy Kinney….no Ryan or Colin…bummer.
Really enjoyed today’s comic - the bird assortment was so original.

Me too, like the color and the birds!

Funny, but Gilligan’s broke the space-time continuum.
I don’t see how you can square “Poncho: Year One” with Twitter.

Cleo, are you in Langley, or has Ryan moved to the big city?
McGehee almost 14 years ago
Pierreandnicole, where did you hear this?
I agree though: “Whose Line” without Ryan and Colin would be like “I Love Lucy” without, well, Lucy.
Destiny23 almost 14 years ago
I agree, Paul, the classic Blue Jays logo is much nicer than the new one! That’s the one they wore when they won the World Series twice after all!!
