I had a beagle who had a potentially fatal disease, was 100% blind, only maybe 8 years old at the time, who managed to open a kitchen cupboard door, pull out the shelf to use as a stair, got up on the counter and ate at least 6 brownies that should have been well out of her reach. I was of course very worried, but beagles have cast iron systems, and while I watched her like a hawk, not one hint of a problem. A call to the vet led to just the observation, so we got lucky that time. She eventually died from something totally unrelated and I still miss her very much. Her illness upped her hunger, and anyone who has ever had a beagle knows they live to eat and chase whatever they might get trained to chase. But definitely eat first. I have always kept mine on the thinner side, but it’s not easy.

Two dogs well deserving of chocolate poisoning.

But sugars are carbohydrates — carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

This would still make a better movie than the 1997 Batman & Robin.

Yup, when the diplomacy breaks down we all turn to some degree of violence. Poncho just breaks down quicker than most.

I had a Labrador who ate $30.00 of Godiva chocolate cookies meant to be Christmas gifts for colleagues. She survived for 12 more years….

What a wuss! You should have told him to give you his candy because there are two of you and you’d rip him to pieces if he didn’t.

That’s what I was going to say, tcayer. And I don’t know if they’d care to eat candy made purely of sugar and flavoring. I wouldn’t.
