It’s a question of logic. What can’t be true is “everything in this journal is completely made up”, because then that statement itself would be false, being something that is in the journal. It can’t be both true and false, so it must be false. That means other things in the journal might be true (her very first sentence probably is).
But being made up doesn’t necessarily mean it’s false. I knew a guy who had blackouts drinking, and when his wife wanted to know where he had been, he made something up to tell her. He said since he didn’t remember where he’d been, he might even be telling her the truth!

If Teena is being logically consistent, then there must be other statements in her journal besides that one, and some of some them must be true.
