Winslow: Carmen, is global warming is now called climate change. Carmen: Why'd they change it? Winslow: So no matter what happens, it can be blamed on people. Carmen: That makes no sense, Winslow. Winslow: You have to think of it from a government regulator's viewpoint... why change the theory when you can change the name?
It’s true that the climate has been changing since forever. However it’s also the case that the change has been accelerating exponentially. Rivers and streams that were predictable for centuries are now dried up or flooding, without the slow predictable progression documented in those centuries. Baby polar bears are drowning because the ice is melting out from under them before they’re old enough to swim to the next floe. And warmer places that typically have rainy winters are experiencing unprecedented blizzards.
There’s no proof that human actions are causing it, just like there’s no proof that McDonald’s causes obesity.
