No, Cheney is probably the only competent public figure since Reagan. The repubs are even wishy-washy on the crazy ObamaCare taxes that have destroyed the job market. They are not smart enough to see that the damage caused by Dodd-Frank will be on a par with the EPA before long. And the horrifically-expensive and completely-worthless Sarbanes-Oxley was mostly a creature of the repubs. ExoticDoc is correct, even if you accept DHS as theoretically-useful.
As an open-minded, moderate Liberal who feels extremist of either party is self-defeating, and both liberal & traditional views are important for balance, I agree with fbj.
Neville Chamberlain was a Conservative Diplomat who believed in a government consisting of ALL parties rather than just a preferred majority rule and petty, partisan bickering. He also preferred diplomacy over military confrontation but found diplomacy had its limitations against those like Germany’s militaristic national socialists. Comparing Obama to Neville Chamberlain is like comparing Stevie Wonder to Mozart… Stevie is good but not in the same class as Mozart. (Sorry Stevie for the comparison.)
This is very deep and thoughtful for a conservative cartoon, which tend to go for quick, superficial and usually inaccurate gags. I’m impressed. .Not so impressed with the comments, which seem to indicate that we can never win unless we act like the bad guys and use torture. .But nobody will ever indicate how, if we act just like them, we’re any better. Unless it’s that we’re fighting for our way of life, so it’s OK. Of course, they’re fighting for their way of life, but that’s not OK? .So God must be on our side. Unless He’s on their side…How would He know the difference?
Neville Chamberlain lived through WWI, if you have any idea what happened to British forces in The Some, Gallioplli, or Flanders, you might cut him a little slack. If our current president was the Neville Chamberlain of America we’d be much better off then we are currently.
