trump is exactly who the Founding Fathers designed impeachment to rid ourselves of. They would have disdained him and everything he stands for.

Winslow, it’s just hard for Democrats, who took oaths to uphold the Constitution, to NOT see the IMPOTUS commit crimes and sell the US out as a Russian vassal state.

There has never been an honest politician. That’s why politics was invented.

The Founders never envisioned a Traitor as president at the same time as Moscow Mitch controlling the Senate.

Nor and entire party that wanted to turn the United States into an oligarchy.

This scenario is EXACTLY what the founders had in mind. The divided Congress provides an internal check on the abuse of power that can arise among the legislature. In this instance, the House has clearly abused power by offering impeachment charges that don’t even list a single alleged crime under the law or constitution.

In addition, the Founders provided another check in the form of the judicial branch to which either branch amy appeal for due process. In this instance, the Executive branch is properly defending its right to resist unjust subpoenas by the House.

Finally, the role of the voter and the elctoral college are providing another form of check by ensuring the people can indicate their consent to whichever party they prefer in 2020.

Yes, Virginia, the founders were truly geniuses.

And they wouldn’t have considered what we have in the White House, either.

So, Scott, since you clearly don’t approve of Trump: what’s your solution? Other than wringing your hands and declaring that both sides are bad, of course.

Interesting fact when Andrew Johnson’s impeachment went to the Senate impeachment lost by one vote. When asked (I’m not sure of the person who voted but it was documented in John F. Kennedy’s “Profiles in Courage”) the person said he did not want to start a trend.

What?!? What the Democrats should try to do their ob and defend the CONSTITUTION? The Founding Fathers probably didn’t foresee a criminal in the White House and a Corrupt head of the Senate along with a new Supreme Kangaroo Court. What a country we were becoming…

Actually the founders did have this in mind. Congressional oversight and impeachment are quite specifically in the Constitution; the founders were well aware of the danger posed by narcissistic demagogues at least going back to the Greeks and Romans.
