sigh. Okay, Scott, you are hereby forgiven for having initially supported the invasion of Iraq. Now would you like to join the rest of us in 2021? We have other things going on that are more important than your hurt feelings over people being mean to you.
So we’re doing another rehash of cancel culture? A takedown of social media is more in order. It’s the singular catalyst for the acid dissolving our culture. Bill Maher is full of … himself, but he’s not wrong when he says we’ve always been this far apart politically. We just didn’t talk about it, incessantly. Zuckerberg’s robots and Murdoch’s programmers amplify the differences for profit. Better we stop filling their pockets and start remembering that Uncle Charlie was your favorite guy before you decided he was evil.
“True act of contrition” is a rare thing nowadays. Have you heard some of the “apologies” offered today? They are mostly “Sorry I got caught, it won’t happen again, if you don’t put me in prison!”
True story: A graduate student at Stanford bashed his advisor’s head in, because the guy wouldn’t accept his thesis research. He was tried, convicted, and imprisoned. In due time, he came before the Parole Board:
“Do you regret your action?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Do you believe you could ever do it again?”
“I honestly couldn’t say. I didn’t PLAN to do it the first time…”
He was denied parole, but I’ve always given him points for honesty.
My point is that forgiveness for past wrongs is one thing, but trust is another. Has any indication been given that they won’t do the same in the future?

Stantis, you’re a member of the Republican Party (of Trump).
As such, you know there’s no such thing as true contrition anywhere within that party.
After all, It’s OKAY If A Republican Does It.

Think the parable of the “Ungrateful Servant”.

The problem is whether it is a true expression of contrition.

Interesting that Stantis is having the “liberal” being the unforgiving one while the evidence weighs more heavily in the opposite direction.

This is aimed neither to the left or right, but it is harder to forgive if the apology is for being caught in the act, rather than for the act itself.

Have any Republicans forgiven Barbara Lee for being RIGHT about Afghanistan? Maybe they would, if she showed contrition.

Could you be a little more vague? Who exactly are we supposed be forgiving towards?

Comparing you to Hitler is NOT a “true expression of contrition”. (You’d be surprised how many people do not know that.) :)

Where is all this contrition from the idiot right-wing populists? Arrogant ignorance is their core function.
