Actually, no- Not if having a roof over one’s head was not treated as a ‘commodity’ for the highest bidders- which induces landlords to keep the market tight, and gouge all the traffic will bear. Check out the Finland model, among others.
Build more homes. Raise minimum wage. In the 60s a single minimum wage secured housing for a family of four. Currently minimum wage doesn’t pay enough for a single person to support themselves. There is a massive housing shortage in America. McMansions are great if you make 6 figures but not so much when median wage is less than $60,000
’I’d have them taken down’: Trump says he removed homeless people’s tents
Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that he had homeless encampment “tents” removed regularly when he was in office, as the former president called for a full federal government takeover of Washington, D.C.Trump, who was speaking at a Turning Point USA event, earlier said he had underestimated Joe Biden. Later in the talk, Trump said he would sometimes have the tents belonging to homeless people “taken down” when he saw them as he came into the White House from the airport.
From Fdr to Jfk to Lbj, Democrats had a broad pragmatic streak to liberal policy. Try stuff, if it doesn’t work try other stuff. Odious as the anti-woke agenda is, liberal posturing while supporting Nimbyism contributes to the loss of the working-class, blue-collar blue voter.
Everyone needs a place to stay. Ok. Good idea. Let’s do it.
A single room, with a bed and wall locker, like military barracks? Been there, done that, works for me. Everyone has a place to stay.
Now what? Are we going to feed them as well? Like a military dining facility? Great, I’ve done that to. Now everyone is fed.
Now what? They’re all housed, they’re all fed. What next? How do we keep them busy? How do we keep them safe? How do we keep them healthy? How do we keep them off drugs and sober? How do we help them move on to independence? How do we make sure they follow all our rules?
If we make them wards of the state when does our responsibility end?
Look, I want to end homelessness. I don’t want sick, uncared for people in the streets. But I don’t think our society honestly care enough to do what needs to be done.
The great California experiment to end homelessness is not working. All they are accomplishing is driving the middleclass out of California, leaving just the Uber rich and the poor.

The richest country in the world and we refuse to take care of the homeless, many of which are military veterans.
