I’m disturbed by the message in this strip. Rather than worshipping someone dead, I’m aligning myself to the risen living Messiah, Jesus. His reality goes beyond a hope in an eternal, blissful existence after my own death. It extends to learning how to live and even be a blessing to others in this sometimes really bad world.
Like all the media, the comics should be an open forum. Having noted that, I must write that this is a very depressing strip. As an adult coming from a very broken home, I can only imagine how this might affect some young readers at Christmas.
The holiday can already be stressful considering the confusing politics and expectations. What’s done is done, but perhaps it might be better to write less jarring subject matter in the “funnies”.
Actually, my cat, Tucker “bounces” into my arm and hand all of the time as he “helps” me write and key on my computer. (I wouldn’t have it any other way!)
Jesus said that He was preparing, “many rooms” for us in heaven. I take that to mean that paradise will include many of those quite specific things that give individuals great pleasure, i.e..: art, music, beautiful vistas and the like. Heaven will be MUCH more than people “sitting around on clouds”. Praise God!!
I’ve said it before, Red and Rover is the best strip to “get away” from the current world situation news to a more relaxed and kind place. I hope Brian B. Keeps up the great adventure of the two “R” Boys!!
It’s nice to read such caring things once in awhile.
